We have submitted the following letter to Grampian NHS, Aberdeenshire Health and Social Care Partnership and our Elected Representatives. It is still open for signatures from the public
Dear Sir or Madam,
We are writing to you as representatives and members of the Monquhiter community to express our support for reopening of the Cuminestown Dr Surgery.
It has been 5 years since this building was closed under Covid. We have been waiting patiently through multiple inspections and promises to have it reopened only to receive news that the building had been allowed to be flooded, and additional repairs were required. Now, our community has begun to doubt all reassurances that it will be reopened.
We understand that many public services are currently under strain, and it is incredibly easy to write off small rural communities like ours. That is not acceptable. The Cuminestown Health Centre is a key component that made our community an attractive place to live before it was closed, and has the potential to be part of a reinvigorated village after it is reopened.
Under Scottish Government and Aberdeenshire Council policy, it is expected that council and government officers work with the communities to discuss their plans, and find solutions.
“We must adopt a more common-sense approach that focuses on what is important: people and communities. To maximise the impact of our combined resources we must work better together.
Implementation of the Place Principle requires a more integrated, collaborative and participative approach to decisions about services, land and buildings. “
We have taken it upon ourselves to gather testimonials and signatures from members of our community to demonstrate how Cuminestown Health Centre is a crucial part of our infrastructure. They are available at this address: [insert address here]
