Unfortunately, the 4th of July Communities Committee vote went against 6 of the Sheltered Housing Complexes in Aberdeenshire including Cumrye, but the fight goes on!
Cllr Stirling asked that members of the community suggest solutions, and ways to move forward, so Mrs Janet Langley has put together a proposal to reopen the review, and expand to all Sheltered Housing. This proposal assures that no one is involuntarily rehoused, but that communities and residents take the lead in reshaping sheltered housing.
Please, sign our petitions, and forward the proposal with your approval to all of your elected members (see https://www.writetothem.com/ for an easy list)

About Monquhitter Matters
We are a group of multiple community organisations representing and made of residents of the Cuminestown, Garmond and surrounding areas who are campaigning to save the parts of our community that are being stripped back by cuts to rural areas.
Our first event was a public meeting on the 30th of April 2025 in Cuminestown Hall. We discussed the facts as we knew at the time around the threatened closure of Cumrye Sheltered Housing and the continued closure of the Cuminestown Health Centre.
We are trying to get all the information available here on the website, but if you see anything missing, please let us know!
