Cuminestown Health Centre was temporarily closed due to Covid in 2020, prior to that, it had been operated a number of days each week by the Turriff Medical Practice.
This allowed members of our community who were unable to drive to live more independently and signficantly cut down on the costs of transportation.
The community have been promised repeatedly that the Health Centre would be re-opened. First, it was kept closed due to the possibility of RAC, from which it was cleared. Then, it appears that it was allowed to flood while closed, which has caused significant damage.
The extent of the damage, cost of repair or likelihood of reopening are all information that have been kept from the community. We understand that the Turriff Medical Practice are keen to see it reopened, as are most people in the area.
With the cuts being made across Aberdeenshire Council area, the systematic cuts to NHS funds and the closing of other rural Health Centres in this area recently, we feel it has now become time for the community to loudly demand progress and transparency from the Council and Aberdeen Health and Social Care Partnership.
